Tom Lawrence is the Executive Director and a member of the Board of Directors of The Leon Levine Foundation. In 2002, Tom joined the Levine Family Office as Chief Financial Officer to oversee the personal finances, tax compliance and investment portfolio management for the family and its Foundation. He previously worked in the Family Wealth Planning division of Arthur Andersen in Charlotte and with the general services group of McGladrey & Pullen in Richmond, Virginia. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Tom is a graduate of the University of Richmond. He and his wife, Gina, have two young children.

Director of Operations and Senior Program Officer
Justin Steinschriber is the Director of Operations and a Senior Program Officer of The Leon Levine Foundation as well as the Director of Operations for the Levine Family Office. Justin previously worked at Wells Fargo Private Bank, advising high net worth families on comprehensive wealth management matters.  He began his career as an attorney in the estate planning and wealth transfer group of Moore & Van Allen, PLLC. In addition to his professional work, he has served on the Boards of the Arts & Science Council, the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and Jewish Family Services of Greater Charlotte.  Justin is a graduate of Tulane University and the University of Virginia School of Law.  He and his wife, Kirsten, live in Dilworth with their two children.

Larry Polsky is a Senior Advisor and a member of the Board of Directors of The Leon Levine Foundation. Previously, Larry was Executive Vice President of Administration with Goodrich and Coltec Industries, a predecessor company, and prior to that, he was Vice President of Personnel with Cooper Industries in Houston, Texas. In addition, Larry serves as a trustee at Queens University. He is a former board chair of Discovery Place and a past trustee of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the Levine Museum of the New South. Larry is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) and the University of Illinois. He and his wife, Dale, have two adult children and four grandchildren.

Michael Tarwater is a Senior Advisor and a member of the Board of Directors of The Leon Levine Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation, Michael enjoyed a 35-year career with Carolinas HealthCare System (Atrium Health) and held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately retiring as the system’s President and CEO in June of 2016. In addition to being highly involved with foundation strategy and grantmaking, Michael invests his time and energy in the community. He holds or has held a variety of leadership roles, including: Chair, Queens Univ. of Charlotte Board of Trustees; Vice Chair, Fellowship for Performing Arts Board of Directors; Member of the Duke Energy Advisory Board; Member of the Advisory Board of Pamlico Capital, and Past Chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. Michael is a Life Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Life Member of the North Carolina Hospital Association, and a member of North Carolina’s Order of the Long Leaf Pine. He is a graduate of the University of West Florida and the University of Alabama – Birmingham. Michael and his wife, Ann, have three adult children and seven grandchildren. They enjoy travel, the arts, and their grandchildren.

Mike Richardson is a Senior Program Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of The Leon Levine Foundation. He has worked with the Levine family since 2004 and joined the Foundation in 2009. Dr. Richardson is the Associate Medical Director for Genetics at the Levine Cancer Institute. Prior to that, he served as a primary care physician for 25 years. Born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Mike is a Morehead Scholar and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the UNC-CH School of Medicine. He and his wife, Kelli, have two adult children.

Deborah Majewski is a Senior Program Officer at The Leon Levine Foundation. She oversees the Foundation’s diverse portfolio of human services grants and manages the portfolios strategic growth as TLLF continues to expand throughout the Carolinas. A native of Buffalo, New York, Deborah has lived in Charlotte since 1995. Prior to joining the Foundation, Deborah’s career was primarily in financial services and she most recently worked at Bank of America. Deborah is a graduate of The University of Rochester (MBA) and SUNY Geneseo (BS). She currently serves on the Boards of the Women’s Impact Fund and Pat’s Place. She and her husband, Dan, live in Plaza Midwood and enjoy spending their free time in the NC mountains.

Jennifer DeWitt is a Program Officer at The Leon Levine Foundation. Previously, she worked for Duke Energy supporting community affairs, philanthropic investments and corporate communications. Prior to that, she spent several years in South Carolina overseeing community engagement for Greenville Water and leading initiatives for the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. Jennifer is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Clemson University. She serves on the Boards of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library Foundation and the Carolina Thread Trail and is active on committees with the YMCA and the Arts & Science Council. Originally from Indianapolis, Jennifer lives in Dilworth and enjoys reading, barre classes, backpacking and exploring Charlotte’s culinary scene.

Andrew Yavorski is a Junior Program Officer at The Leon Levine Foundation. He first joined The Foundation team as the Foundation’s first-ever intern. He is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in public policy and history. He is an avid sports fan, particularly of his alma mater and his hometown Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets.

Sara is a Program Associate at The Leon Levine Foundation. She’s a proud native Charlottean and graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where she studied Education and Psychology and previously worked as Assistant Director of Admissions. An active volunteer, Sara serves as a second-year tutor for HEART Math Tutoring and coaches a Special Olympics swim team with her husband, Rost. She has a love for sports, running, and spending time with her family, especially her two dogs.

Amy Chapman is a Program Associate at The Leon Levine Foundation. She previously worked at a digital marketing company in Charlotte as a Junior Copywriter. Amy is a proud graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where she studied English and Arts Leadership and Administration. Originally from England, Amy now lives in Charlotte with her husband, Matt. In their free time, Amy and Matt enjoy mentoring a StreetLeader from Urban Promise. Amy also serves on the Advisory Board of The Arts at Queens.

Gina Ringelberg is a Program Associate at The Leon Levine Foundation. A native of Park City, Utah, Gina recently moved to Charlotte from New York City, where she worked as a substance abuse counselor. She is a QuestBridge scholar and a graduate of Amherst College, with a degree in History and African Studies. Gina is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters and has stayed matched with her “Little” for 8 years! Her hobbies include camping, skiing, and trivia.

Dwight Miller is a Program Associate at the Leon Levine Foundation. A Charlotte Area native, Dwight was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at Appalachian State University where he studied History Secondary Education. Upon graduating, Dwight was accepted into Teach For America and was placed at West Mecklenburg High School, where he taught for five years. Dwight and his wife Christiana live in East Charlotte with their black lab, Archduke Ferdinand. His hobbies include hiking, learning, and board games, particularly Risk.

Sarah Ott is the Grants Administrator at The Leon Levine Foundation. Previously, Sarah served as an Administrative Assistant at a local import/export company. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a degree in History and Anthropology. A proud Army brat, Sarah is delighted to call Charlotte home. She and her husband, Dave, are animal lovers with three cats and a dog.

Cindy Woller is an Accountant at The Leon Levine Foundation. In 2005, she joined the Levine Family Office, and the Foundation full time. Previously, Cindy was the corporate cash manager for Family Dollar Stores while working part time for the Levine family and their Foundation. She is a native Charlottean and a graduate of Wingate University. Cindy and her husband, Scott, have two adult sons.

Rebecca is the Controller for the Levine Family Office. Rebecca previously worked at Elliott Davis Decosimo, PLLC as a Senior Manager, advising closely-held business owners and their families with tax and business planning matters. She is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia and the College of Charleston where she received her BBA in Accounting and Master’s in Accountancy, respectively. In addition to her professional associations, she is a member of the Junior League of Charlotte. She and her husband, Jimmy, have one young son.

Janice is an Accounting Specialist for the Levine Family Office. Janice previously worked on a project basis with a variety of Charlotte businesses and was most recently a consultant with CliftonLarsonAllen’s Cast division. She was also formerly a Senior Manager in the general services group of McGladrey and Pullen. Janice is proud to be an original Panthers PSL owner, enjoys growing flowers and playing Scrabble. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Janice is a graduate of Radford University. She and her husband, Chris, have two daughters.

Darrow is a Portfolio Analyst for the Levine Family Office. Previously Darrow worked at Bank of America as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Chief Finance Officer Group. Originally from Boone, he is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he received a BSBA in Finance & Banking and Accounting as well as a minor in Mathematics. In his free time Darrow enjoys playing basketball and volleyball, backpacking, and spending time with his greyhound, Boss.
Fred Simmons

Project Manager
Fred Simmons is a Project Manager at The Leon Levine Foundation. In 2008, Fred joined the Foundation after a 36-year career with Family Dollar Stores, during which he served in a number of roles, advancing from his first position as a stock boy at age 17 to the Charlotte-area District Manager and eventually the Director of Advertising. Fred is a resident of Belmont, where he spends his free time working in his yard and tinkering with old cars. Fred, and his wife Joanie, have an adult son and a young granddaughter.
